Embarking on a visual dialogue as a journey toward personal healing has been an integral part of Mantor's layered, artistic images. She was particularly inspired during trips to Mexico where she discovered the tiny, silver Milagro medals pinned to images of Christ or to images of Saints on display in churches and used to promote self-healing or in testimony to the miracle of an actual healing. Milagros are known in Spanish-speaking and European countries as "Little Miracles" and are little metal shapes which depict a hurt body part, a broken object or an ailing animal, as healing meditations directed toward the injured entity. Mantor creates sculpted and painted Milagros which are "my created visualizaitons of pain and hurt and are designed to send a positive message which may promote healing of the self and illustrate the earth's interconnected wholeness."
